My story is almost identical to yours.  I had no idea what to expect.  She was my first baby, everything was so  new to me anyway.  I was hospitalized with preeclampsia at 30 weeks.  I had the steroid shots and everything.  It was just a waiting game.  See how long I could last until my body and the baby couldn't take it anymore.  I made it to 32 weeks.  I was so set on having her naturally, that is, me pushing her out the normal way, that I convinced my Dr. to at least let me try.  They gave me pitocin and magnisium sulfate, which counteract each other.  As the night wore on, I became increasingly more sick.  I was so sick that i barely remember that night.  My husband, on the other hand, cannot wipe that night from his memory.  Both the baby and I very well could have died.  My Dr. told me afterwards that mine was the worst place of preeclampsia she had seen in at least four years.  By morning I had reached the time limit my Dr. had set, and was only dialated to a 1.  So I had a C-section.  Our beautiful daughter was born healthy and crying at 12:05.  Let me tell you her cry was the most beautiful sound I have ever heard!  She weighed 4 lb. 1 oz. i got to see her face and then the doctors whisked her away to the NICU.  She was in the hospital for 5 weeks.  Those  were the longest five weeks of my life!

Looking back on my time in the hospital and those 5 weeks of waiting for our girl to come home, I can see the hand of God on our lives.  He took care of us.  He filled us with His peace.  I felt His love.  So now, it is a sweet time that I look back on.

My daughter is now five years old and even very tall for her age!  It took her about two years to catch up totally.  But now she is just like any other kid.  You would never know that she was a preemie!  When she was in the NICU, she was on oxygen for about a week, and a feeding tube for three.  She has not had any of the normal preemie problems.  I believe that it is because of two things. A: God blessed us with her good health, and B: We have the best Pediatrician in the world!  And  she did OMT on My daughter from the moment she was out of the hospital until she was about 3 years old.  I think OMT could cure just about anything!  (Maybe that an exaggeration, but it is so incredible!)

I hope that my story is encouraging to you!  I read your story, and my own experience came rushing back.  I hope that your baby is well!

Welcome!  Just read your birth story with your newest baby.  How are you and your family doing?  My youngest was born at 36 weeks so nothing fancy but my good friends baby born at 20 weeks is a rockin' 5 year old!  I have to pass her success along to all the moms I meet with preemie's.

Love,

Trisha
